Evaluation of Performance of Pavement Founded on the Reinforced Earth Sections along Outer Ring Road, Nairobi

There are no existing local design manuals and construction guidelines for reinforced earth structures in Kenya. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance pavement found on sections along Outer Ring Road. structural evaluation determined from deflection measurements using Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), while functional by visual condition survey, roughness, rut depth measurements. Classified traffic counts axle load surveys were undertaken. It established that would be exceeded year 10 after opening road. surface survey indicated entire road generally good condition. roughness rating rated "Good", ten embankment "Fair". characteristic depths higher than lane Three showed low severity, rest had rutting.
